Tammany Trace is the first (and only) Louisiana rail-to-trail path, made up of a main paved trail for bikers, joggers, pedestrians, and recreationalists of all types, as well as an adjacent equestrian path for horseback riders. Spanning 29 miles and used by 290,000 people annually, Tammany Trace is a great place to enjoy the beautiful Louisiana weather this fall. The trail passes through five communities: Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville, Lacombe, and Slidell. The path also is a wildlife conservation corridor, preserving the historic parks and wetlands of the area. 31 railroad bridges make up part of “The Trace”, where you can get a great view of the local wildlife, rivers, and bayous.

Abita Springs is also home to the famous Abita Brewing Company, where you can stop in and check out how the beer is made, sample different types of beer, as well as get a bite to eat. The brewery brews over 125,000 barrels of beer per year. For you non-drinkers and families with children, the brewery also makes root beer, making the Abita Brewing Company fun for the whole family.

If you’re into the quirky and kitschy, you can check out the Abita Mystery House and UCM Museum. This museum is full of folk art, as well as installations of over 50,000 recycled and found objects. The museum also features a vintage service station, a 100-year-old Louisiana Creole cottage, as well as the famous House of Shards, a house decorated with thousands of glass pieces, pottery shards, tiles, and glass. Touted as Louisiana’s most eccentric location, the UCM Museum is a must-see when you come to visit Abita. And your kids will love it!

Of course, Abita Springs Rv Park is less than an hour north from New Orleans, but you don’t have to travel to New Orleans to find fun outside of our park in Abita Springs. There is so much to see and do right in Abita Springs. We hope to see you soon at our resort!
