In May 2022, we announced our new owners, American Adventure Holdings, had acquired Ocean Canyon Resorts. With this acquisition also came a transition in our company leadership. When Mike Pournoury passed away, Peter Graffman stepped up and took the CEO torch, and while it was certainly tough to lose Mike, Ocean Canyon Resorts remained in a strong position having one of its best years in history. After such a strong year, Peter was confident going into the acquisition and knew the torch could again be passed so he could head into a much deserved retirement. Now, we are excited to introduce our new CEO, Jason King.
Jason is a seasoned executive with over a decade of leadership experience in the real estate industry. As an investor and developer specializing in membership RV parks, Jason has overseen the growth of Ocean Canyon Resorts over the last year and a half. Jason is also the third generation to build a career in the camping industry. Jason’s grandfather, John, started in 1977 with Thousand Trails and eventually owned resorts on the West coast. Jason grew up playing in and then working at campgrounds. Jason is honored to continue the company’s mission of creating experiences where families can come together, spend time with each other and experience the great outdoors. Jason’s relationship with Mike Pournoury and Ocean Canyon Resorts spans years. Jason considered Mike very much a mentor of his and had an immense amount of respect for Mike and all that he accomplished with Ocean Canyon Resorts alongside Peter.
Jason worked closely with Mike and Peter during American Adventure Holding’s acquisition of Ocean Canyon Resorts. And when Mike passed away, he continued working with Peter to accomplish the successful acquisition. Jason is extremely grateful and proud to be the new CEO. He is passionate about investing in and growing this business, as well as improving the overall member experience. Jason is married to his wife Ali, and they have 2 young children together, Lincoln and Lucas. During his leisure time, he is a novice pilot and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying things like bear hunting, bow hunting and fishing.
