What a great time we all had, and we are so excited to share our newest and first public campground with you!
We were blessed with bright sunshine and relatively cool temps for summertime. About 120-140 people attended – from the Branson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce, Compton Ridge campers, Compton Ridge staff, and public attendees. About 10:30 that morning KRZK Radio set up for a remote broadcast and went live on air in our gazebo from 11 AM to 1 PM. Just before noon, a 6-inch red ribbon was stretched across the main drive and the crowd gathered. President Mike Pournoury dedicated Compton Ridge with prayer, then spoke briefly about the process of purchasing Compton Ridge and getting it up and running. Vice President Peter Graffman also spoke about the commitment of Compton Ridge staff, as well as staff from other OCP resorts who came to Branson to help get Compton Ridge Campground & Lodge into shape. Then Mike, Peter, VP of Operations Jim Wofford and VP of Sales Tom Shaw cut the ribbon with oversized scissors while guests and staff applauded. Then Mike announced, “Let’s eat!” and everyone moved to the Gathering Place for typical summer fare – hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and soft drinks. As the meal began winding down, Mike reached into the drawings fishbowl for 3 names and awarded an LED flashlight, a canopied camping chair and a certificate for a free weekend in a lodge room. Congrats to our winners!
