Continuing the top ten resolutions Ocean Canyon-style, let’s talk about enjoying life more. Of all the things that might mean, we’re guessing that doing taxes, mowing the yard, and cleaning house doesn’t make the list. Happily, all those things can be left behind when you head out in the RV or book a cabin at Tres Rios to do a little winter camping.
What makes life more enjoyable for you? Fishing off the dock? An early morning hike in the fresh air? Watching the sun go down while having a chat by a campfire? This is a great resolution because you fill in the blanks with whatever you love. Apart from your favorite camping activities, here are some local Glen Rose activities you’re guaranteed to find more enjoyable than going to the dentist or re-caulking the bathtub:
- Bluegrass Jam Session – Saturday February 16
If you want to join in, jam sessions start around 3 p.m. at Historic Oakdale Park. If you’d rather sit back and enjoy other musicians, the concert starts at 6:30. It’s free and enjoyable either way! - Art on the Square – every third Saturday, March – October
Original, handmade fine art and crafts on display in the town square. If you’re an artist, consider renting a space for $25 to sell your creations. If you’re not in the market to market your wares, head out to the square to spend a beautiful sunny afternoon appreciating the creativity of artisans and getting some great gift ideas. - Dinosaur Valley State Park
Ever set your feet where dinosaurs trod? Okay you might not know that; but if you head out to Dinosaur Valley State Park and stand in a giant dinosaur footprint, you’ll be able to categorically state that yes, you have stood where dinosaurs trod. Or gaze up at a 70-ft Apatosaurus (known as a brontosaurus back in the day) or a 45-ft T Rex in total confidence that you won’t end up being dinner for a larger carnivore, because these guys are made of fiberglass. Call ahead to check conditions, because the footprints are in a river bed.
All these events, and many more around Tres Rios and Glen Rose, can be found here.
You spend a lot of time scheduling the boring but necessary events of life. We hope you schedule some enjoyable time soon, and we hope it brings you back to camp with us at Tres Rios.
