Ocean Canyon Properties Hosts 8th Annual Tolbert Chili and Barbecue Cook-Off at Tres Rios RV Resort

Ocean Canyon Properties (OCP), a privately owned RV membership camping resort company, is excited to announce their 8th annual Tolbert Chili and Barbecue Cook-Off at Tres Rios RV Resort in Glen Rose, Texas, benefiting the Johnson County Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.
This Chili Cook-Off is part of a series of Tolbert cook-offs in Texas, culminating with the 48th Annual International Frank X. Tolbert – Wick Fowler Memorial Championship in Terlingua, TX on November 1, 2014.
Kicking off with an appetizer competition Friday night at 8PM and continuing with the main dishes on Saturday, the Chili Cook-off features dishes from multiple categories. Submissions will include barbecue, salsa, beans, dutch oven bread, a dutch oven open entry, fruit dessert, pork ribs, chicken, pork butt and brisket. The first of its kind in the area, the cook-off attracts dozens of cooks and families every year looking to get in on the fun and show off their cooking prowess from all over the South.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd place in each category. The cook with the most points at the end of the competition will be awarded the High-Point Cook $200 cash prize. First place in each category wins a cash prize of $50. At the end of the event, select dishes will be served to the public. “It has been a blessing for our relay team, School of Hope, to organize an event that supports finding a cure for cancer. Our cooks have been very supportive by participating and generously donating. Over the years, the cook-off has continued to increase in cook’s participation. We invite everyone to come out and cook or eat the awesome BBQ and chili,” said Lori Nunez, cook-off coordinator.
