It’s hot out there! With our resorts located across the southeastern USA, Ocean Canyon Properties would like you to stay cool this summer. Here are some tips on how to keep your RV nice and cool in the summer and beat the heat.
Whenever possible, park your RV in the shade. It can be over 20 degrees cooler in the shade vs. full sun. We know that’s not always possible, so you can make your own shade! Try and put out your awning so it shades as much of the RV as possible. If possible, try to park your RV’s front or back facing south so the sun will hit your rig as little as possible.
If you want some custom gear for keeping cool, you could always buy some shade cloth and either sew seams in it yourself or have someone do it for you. With a few grommets, you can hang it from your RV and attach some strings to stakes to get a portable shade screen!
Keep the blinds closed if possible in your rig as well as possibly putting a second layer of insulation on your windows to keep the heat/light out. Taping bubble insulation to your windows can really help with this. Also make sure to seal any vents that could let the cool air conditioned air escape and let heat in.
If your unit’s air conditioning just isn’t cutting it, you may want to think about putting a small portable window until in your RV. You can cut some plywood to make it fit properly in one of your windows. Make sure all the holes are sealed, you don’t want hot air or bugs getting in. And get a fan or two, circulating air can really go a long way in terms of cooling you off.
