It’s a new year, which means time to make resolutions for a new, happier you. One way that you can improve your life is, believe it or not, camping more! Camping has so many benefits for your life, how could you not want to camp more? Here are some of the ways that camping can be beneficial towards your health and a new, happier you.
All the fresh air you get to take in while camping has enormous benefits. Thanks to all the trees at your favorite campsite, increased oxygen intake can release serotonin, which makes your brain more content and at ease. Also, being outdoors can improve digestion, regulate your blood pressure, and boost your immune system.
If you feel happier when you return from a camping trip, that is no coincidence. Camping and spending time outside in the sunlight will regulate your mind and body chemistry and enhance your mood and overall sense of well-being.
Life is stressful, but camping certainly doesn’t have to be. In fact, spending time outdoors and in the sun can definitely make you feel less stressed and more at peace with the world around you. Getting back to nature really can be a healthy thing.
And let’s not forget about exercise! Even just a 15-minute walk can boost your endorphins and get your blood pumping to increase your cardiovascular health. Many of our resorts have wonderful walking trails for you and your friends and family to enjoy, and it is a great way to exercise and enjoy the park together. We also have many activities on the park to get your daily exercise in some fun and different ways, so make sure to check our events calendar to see what’s going on at the park that day!
Families that camp together stay together, I know it’s a cliché saying, but it couldn’t be more true. You can buy your kids all the toys and computer games they want, but in 10 years or 20 years when they look back on their childhood it’s not going to be their play station or cell phone they remember, it’s going to be the time they spent with their family. It’s going to be that night on the dock with Dad battling the big fish, the board games in the RV with Mom and the great time they had tubing and roasting s’mores with their siblings.
So, have we convinced you yet? It might be time to cancel plans and take off on your next camping adventure. Your body will be thanking you! We hope to be seeing a lot more of you in 2014 at Ocean Canyon. Let us help you work toward a happier and healthier you!
