Part of the RV lifestyle is spending hours upon hours on the road! While many of us relish the time we spend on the road, if you have kids, their patience may wear thin while traveling. Here are some fun games you and your family can play while traveling all over the country!
“I Spy” – A classic game everyone has played. First start out by finding an object. Say “I spy with my little eye…” and then give a vague description of the object i.e. “something that is blue”, “something round”, “something big”. All players rotate in guessing what the object is. When someone finds the correct object, they can choose the next object.
“The Alphabet Game” – This game is a lot of fun because it really gets you familiar with the area you are traveling in! Starting with the letter “A” and going through the alphabet in order, try and spot something on the road that starts with the letter you are on. When a player spots the letter, they have to shout out the letter and word found, i.e. “A as in Albuquerque!” You cannot use letters on trucks/cars/license plates. On longer trips, you can also make variations of the game (Z-A, no proper names, etc).
“Counting Animals” – a fun game, especially in a rural area. The object of the game is to, well, count animals you see on the side of the road. You can only count animals that have not passed the car yet. Each animal has a certain amount of points – the more points, the more difficult the animal would be to find. Cow – 1 point, horse – 1 point, dog – 1 point, sheep – 2 points, llama – 3 points, cat – 3 points, donkey – 3 point, pig – 4 points. You can make up your own rules, of course. This is just a guideline. You can keep track of the score the whole ride and the winner could be the person with the most points, or you could play the first one up to 100 points is the winner. Either way, a fun game to play on road trips!
These are just some of the hundreds of games you and your family could play while RVing together. Try and come up with some of your own!
